Streamline became an exercise in controlled refinement: enhancing perception, ergonomics, and visual balance while fully respecting the technical and industrial constraints of the original aircraft.
For the first time, design was used not to redefine the aircraft, but to reveal its true potential.

THE FIRST SYSTEMATIC RESTYLING

Streamline was the first aircraft restyling project I approached in a truly systematic way.

I joined the program at an early stage, before the aircraft had reached its final form, after the initial configuration failed to fully convince the project lead. I was asked to explore alternative solutions capable of giving the aircraft a more coherent and appealing identity.

In close collaboration with the company, we explored multiple design directions, working extensively with foam mock-ups to physically test volumes, proportions, and surface transitions before moving into final development.

DESIGN WITHIN COSTRAINS

From the beginning, the constraints were clearly defined.
The aircraft was already based on existing composite molds, which meant that overall dimensions, wing position, control geometry, and structural fundamentals could not be altered.

The challenge was to achieve meaningful visual improvement through precise, targeted interventions rather than a complete redesign.

FORM AND CONTINUITY

My design approach naturally gravitated toward soft, fluid surfaces and elliptical wing geometries. This direction quickly became central to the project, also because truly modern aircraft featuring elliptical planforms are extremely rare.

The objective was to restore visual continuity and elegance without compromising manufacturability.

RETHINKING THE COCKPIT

One of the most critical challenges was the cockpit.
The original interior layout constrained both pilot and passenger, resulting in inefficient use of space.

The solution came from rethinking the instrument panel with a swining element, allowing space to be freed where it was not required. The concept was inspired by transferable flight controls shared between pilots.

INTEGRATED DESIGN ELEMENTS

As part of the restyling, I also designed the throttle, control stick, and custom-shaped luggage, each precisely tailored to fit the available spaces within the airframe.

These components extended the design language beyond external surfaces, reinforcing the idea of a fully integrated aircraft.
