SAA TROPHIES

The SAA Trophies were conceived as living objects: designed not to be replaced, but to evolve over time, carrying the history of competition from one champion to the next.

A SHARED VISION

This project involved the design and production of the trophies for the five official categories of the Swiss Aerobatic Association: Swiss Cup Winner, Excellence Champion, Sportsman Champion, Intermediate Champion, and Unlimited Champion.

The goal was to move beyond the idea of a static award and create something meaningful, durable, and deeply connected to the sport it represents.

A TROPHY THAT EVOLVES WITH TIME

At the core of the concept is a simple but radical idea: each trophy is meant to be passed down from winner to winner for a period of twenty-four years.

To achieve this, I designed and engineered a solid metal base equipped with rotating engraved rings. Each ring represents a year, from 2019 to 2042. At the end of every season, the rings are rotated to reveal the current year, and the name of the new champion is engraved.

The trophy does not reset. It accumulates history.

SYMBOLISM AND IDENTITY

Each trophy incorporates symbolic elements that connect Switzerland and aerobatic flight.

Recurring motifs include stylized silhouettes of the Alps, evoking both national identity and the vertical dimension of aerobatics. Materials and colors were carefully chosen to reinforce this connection: stone, wood, glass, and red accents inspired by the Swiss flag and the natural landscape.

CRAFTED EXCELLENCE

All trophies were entirely manufactured locally through a network of artisans from the Italian Motor Valley.

This combination of advanced engineering and traditional craftsmanship ensures exceptional quality, precision, and durability. Objects built to withstand time, handling, and meaning.
