FK14 Le Mans is a radical restomod: an aircraft conceived by reinterpreting an existing platform through a strong cultural vision, transforming it into something that had never existed before.

This project was commissioned by Peter Funk and revolves around a highly innovative interpretation of the restomod concept.

By restomod, we mean a deep transformation that leads to a new product: one that still shares parts and DNA with an existing aircraft, yet expresses a completely new identity.

United by a passion for vintage Le Mans racing cars, Peter and I began exploring how an FK14 could be reimagined with a distinctive and elegant configuration.

The idea was to design a two-seat, side-by-side canopy solution, separated, independent, and protected by two individual bubble canopies. A clear reference to classic racing cars of the Le Mans era.

From there, a series of further modifications followed, all driven by a single goal: to shape an ideal aircraft that had never existed before.

One of the key requirements was versatility: the ability to fly with an open cockpit during summer months, while retaining the traditional closed canopy for winter operations.

The aircraft was also reimagined in a taildragger configuration.
This choice was driven purely by character: the resulting stance felt more coherent, more aligned with the spirit of a classic sports racing machine.

To complete the concept, a vintage racing livery was developed. Classic race numbers framed within ovals and circles, directly inspired by historic Le Mans competition graphics.
