The EXTRA NG is not designed to travel from point A to point B.
It exists for one purpose only: to transform aviation fuel into adrenaline.
At that moment, everything began to make sense.
For the first time, one of my designs could become a flying reality.

A CALL FROM GERMANY

It started with a call from Germany. Walter Extra invited me to his company and asked a simple question that changes everything: “Would you like to design the next generation of aerobatic aircraft for Extra?” It was early in the morning. No beer, no dreams, just a very real opportunity.

The project brought together German engineers and an Italian designer, and it quickly became clear that the most elegant shapes were also the most functional. That balance between beauty and performance became the foundation of the Extra NG.

FROM SKETCHES TO FORM

The design process began with hand sketches: dozens of them, produced anywhere and at any time.

From paper, the project moved to digital sketching and then into 2D and 3D development. Surface modeling, mechanical design, and continuous refinement followed.

At key moments, the process returned to clay. Sculpting by hand allowed the forms to emerge naturally, free from digital constraints. The clay model was then scanned and refined in CAD until the final shape was achieved.

A CONTINOUS SURFACE

The Extra NG was conceived as a single, uninterrupted surface from the spinner to the tip of the rudder.

Reflections flow smoothly across the fuselage without distortion, revealing a form without breaks, hesitation, or visual tension.

INTERIOR DESIGN

The interior follows the same philosophy.

Carbon fiber surfaces flow and transform, creating armrests, instrument panel covers, and structural elements that merge seamlessly with the canopy frame.
Every curve is intentional. No abrupt transitions. No unnecessary complexity.

A NEW GENERATION

The Extra NG represents a significant step forward.

From the beginning, the team agreed on a clear principle: every component had to serve multiple functions. This approach allowed us to reduce weight, simplify manufacturing, decrease the number of parts, and improve overall precision and integration.

Many concepts were inspired by proven methodologies from the automotive industry. Nothing was reinvented, only the best solutions were adapted and applied with precision.
