Dardo was conceived as an exercise in clarity and identity: an aircraft defined by clean, honest lines and a strong visual character, designed to stand apart in a landscape where many aircraft tend to look the same.

A SHARED HISTORY

I have known Maurizio Cheli for many years. A fellow Modenese, even if his life has taken him far beyond local skies, quite literally. Fighter test pilot, Space Shuttle mission specialist, mountaineer, and one of the very few people to have seen Earth both from orbit and from the summit of Everest.

Above all, he is a trusted friend and flying companion. During a phase of his career dedicated to entrepreneurship, I had the opportunity to design two aircraft for him. One of them was Dardo.

DEFINING A DISTINCT IDENTITY

The challenge was clear from the start: to create something unmistakably different in a field where visual homogenization is common.

The answer came through clean, tense, and purposeful lines. Integrating a generous side-by-side cockpit into a slim, streamlined fuselage required a careful balance, respecting the dimensional constraints imposed by engineering while preserving a strong and recognizable identity.

ITALIAN HERITAGE, CONTEMPORARY LANGUAGE

The result is an aircraft that expresses its Italian roots with confidence.
Dardo is a cultural heir to the many side-by-side trainers designed and built in Italy, reinterpreted through a contemporary design language.

I like to think that its lines, and its proudly Italian name, make Dardo instantly recognizable worldwide as an aircraft conceived and designed in Italy.

Custom logo and livery complete the project, sealing its identity and reinforcing the coherence of the overall design.
